Makkah TV — Motion Broadcast Identity

Creating a contemporary broadcast language for a platform rooted in spirituality and culture

Makkah TV | Motion Broadcast Identity was developed as a comprehensive motion graphics and broadcast design project, created to establish a modern and cohesive visual experience for the channel across its television and digital presence. The project focused on translating the spiritual and cultural character of Makkah TV into a contemporary motion language that feels refined, recognizable, and appropriate for a broadcast environment. Rather than treating each on-air element as an isolated graphic, the project was approached as a unified visual system where animation, typography, composition, transitions, and information design work together to create consistency across the channel.

Building the Visual Direction

The visual direction was built around the idea of combining modern broadcast aesthetics with a sense of spirituality, elegance, and cultural relevance. The goal was to create graphics that could communicate information quickly and clearly while maintaining the distinctive character expected from a religious and informational television platform.

This approach influenced every part of the system, from the pacing and movement of the animations to the composition of individual scenes and the treatment of broadcast information. Visual elements were designed to feel calm and intentional rather than overly aggressive, allowing motion to support the content instead of competing with it.

A major part of the project focused on transforming essential channel information into clear, visually engaging broadcast interfaces.

Prayer Times

Motion as a System

Consistency was a key consideration throughout the project. Instead of creating unrelated animations for every broadcast requirement, the motion language was structured around recurring visual principles.

Transitions, entrances, exits, pacing, scale changes, and compositional movement were designed to feel connected across different pieces of content. This created a system that could adapt to multiple broadcast scenarios while preserving the same visual DNA.

The result is a motion identity that can move naturally between brand-led moments, informational graphics, schedules, environmental content, and promotional segments without losing its sense of continuity.

Creating the Visual Scenes

Alongside the broadcast interfaces, the project included a series of custom scenes created specifically for the video content. These scenes provided the visual foundation for the main motion pieces and helped establish a more cinematic dimension within the identity.

The scenes were developed to support the narrative and atmosphere of the broadcast experience, combining composition, visual effects, animation, and post-production to create richer moments beyond standard broadcast graphics. These visuals allowed the identity to expand from functional information design into a more expressive motion language.

From Identity to Broadcast Experience

The final outcome was designed to function as more than a collection of individual animations. It became a complete motion broadcast identity capable of connecting different types of television content under one visual direction.

From the opening TV intro and logo animation to prayer times, Friday Khutbah content, imam and muezzin schedules, weather forecasts, and supporting promotional graphics, every component contributes to a unified experience. The system balances clarity, elegance, motion, cultural character, and broadcast functionality, giving Makkah TV a contemporary visual presence while remaining aligned with the nature of its content.

The project demonstrates how motion design can transform a traditional broadcast identity into a living visual system—one that is not only recognizable at first glance, but flexible enough to support the many different moments and information formats that make up a modern television channel.

Creative & Technical Execution

The project was developed through a combination of motion design, animation, compositing, visual effects, and video editing, with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro used as the primary production tools.

The focus throughout the process was on creating a balance between visual impact and communication, ensuring that every animated element had a clear purpose within the broadcast environment. The final system brings together identity, information, and motion into a cohesive experience designed to work seamlessly across Makkah TV's channel and digital touchpoints.

Logo Motion

A familiar symbol, brought to life through motion. The logo animation was designed to transform the Makkah TV identity into a cinematic visual moment, where form, rhythm, and movement come together seamlessly. Instead of a conventional logo reveal, the animation explores the relationship between the symbol and the visual language of the channel, creating a transition that feels refined, meaningful, and contemporary. Every movement was carefully crafted to preserve the recognition of the original identity while giving it a dynamic expression that naturally fits within the broadcast experience. The result is a memorable opening moment that connects heritage, spirituality, and modern motion design into one cohesive visual statement.
