How Strategic Localization

Turned a Global Campaign Into Local Impact ?

A Localization Case Study by Animus Agency

Global campaigns are built for scale. But connecting with a local audience requires more than translating words.

For Vichy Dercos, Animus Agency partnered with Vichy – L’Oréal to localize and adapt the brand’s global anti-dandruff campaign for the Egyptian market, transforming international creative assets into content that felt relevant, credible, and natural to Egyptian consumers.

The project went beyond traditional Arabic translation. From creative direction and Arabic localization to video production, motion graphics, platform adaptation, and short-form content, every element was carefully developed to maintain Vichy’s global identity while creating stronger relevance for audiences in Egypt.

The result was a unified localized campaign built for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, generating more than 55 million video views on YouTube across organic and paid media.

The Challenge: Making a Global Brand Feel Local

Vichy is an internationally recognized skincare brand with an established visual identity, scientific positioning, and strict global brand guidelines.
The challenge wasn't to reinvent that identity.
It was to make it resonate locally.
Content originally developed for an international audience needed to communicate naturally with Egyptian consumers while maintaining the scientific credibility, premium positioning, and visual consistency associated with Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff.
That meant looking beyond direct English-to-Arabic translation.
Language, terminology, tone of voice, visual communication, pacing, messaging, and platform behavior all had to work together.
The objective was simple:
Keep the brand global. Make the experience local.

True Localization, Not Just Translation

One of the biggest differences between translation and localization is context.
Translation changes the language.
Localization changes how the message connects with the audience.
For the Vichy Dercos Egypt campaign, Animus approached localization as a complete creative process.
Global messaging was carefully adapted into Arabic while considering how Egyptian consumers naturally receive and engage with beauty, haircare, and dermatological content.
Rather than translating scripts word for word, we focused on preserving the meaning, scientific accuracy, brand tone, and communication objective behind each piece of content.
This allowed the campaign to sound natural in Arabic without losing the authority and identity of the original Vichy communication.

From Global Creative Direction to Egyptian Audience Relevance

A successful localization campaign needs consistency at every touchpoint.
Animus developed a localized creative system that connected Vichy's international brand language with the expectations of its Egyptian audience.
Our work included:

  • Creative direction and localized concept development

  • English-to-Arabic content localization and adaptation

  • Script and messaging refinement for Egyptian audiences

  • Dermatologist-led hero video production

  • Short-form performance content

  • Product-focused video assets

  • Motion graphics and visual storytelling

  • Social media content adaptation

  • Platform-specific video formats

  • YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok deliverables

  • Creative execution aligned with L'Oréal's global brand guidelines

Instead of treating each video as an isolated deliverable, the campaign was developed as one connected creative ecosystem.
The same brand identity could therefore remain recognizable across multiple formats, messages, audiences, and platforms.

Building Scientific Credibility Through Local Storytelling

For a dermatological haircare product such as Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff, localization also needs to protect scientific credibility.
The campaign had to communicate product benefits and expert information clearly without making the content feel overly technical or disconnected from everyday consumers.
Dermatologist-led hero content played an important role in establishing authority and trust.
The supporting short-form content then transformed key messages into faster, more accessible formats designed for digital consumption.
This combination created a balance between expert-led communication and consumer-friendly storytelling.
Scientific information remained credible, but the way it was presented became more approachable and relevant to the local audience.

One Campaign, Multiple Digital Platforms

Localization doesn't stop with language.
Content that works on YouTube doesn't necessarily work the same way on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook.
Each platform has different viewing behaviors, formats, pacing, and attention patterns.
For the Vichy Dercos campaign, Animus produced and adapted creative assets specifically for different digital environments.
Longer hero content helped communicate deeper product and dermatologist-led messages, while shorter edits were designed to deliver key information quickly and effectively.
Visual hierarchy, motion graphics, framing, pacing, and video duration were adapted according to the intended platform.
The result was a platform-optimized content system rather than one video simply resized and distributed everywhere.
